Matt grew up in a small town New Zealand where he started riding and racing BMX with his sister at 8 years old winning a few national titles along the way but found a true passion when he stumbled onto mountain bikes at the age of 16, since then he hung the BMX up and never looked back! Matt went on to race a few world cups as a junior qualifying in the elite top 80 multiple times but the competitive cycling was put on hold for a few years while completing an Electrical Apprenticeship after high school. Post apprenticeship him and a few friends (including Eddie Masters) brought himself a van in Europe to tackle the world cups again as privateers. On board a trusty Pivot Phoenix it was a massive learning curve of a season with a few podiums and decent results sprinkled in there the boys were hooked on racing again. Fast forward to now He is stoked to be back on his favourite bikes of all time - Pivots!
