Introducing Pivot’s Frequent Flyer Plan

The Point was developed by Pivot engineers, in partnership with the steel experts at DMR, to bring a higher level of performance and strength to the party than previously seen in chromoly dirt jumpers. Beginning with the highest grade DMR chromoly steel, Pivot designed and tuned the geometry and feel to meet the requirements of our pro athletes. The Point features a roomy cockpit, combined with super short chainstays, ISCG 05 mounts, interchangeable dropout and a 1.5” tapered head tube make for a bike that provides go-big confidence in all situations, with a snappy liveliness and an incredibly high fun factor.

FAQS

Which size bike should I purchase?

The Point only comes in one size, which will generally fit riders between 5’6” to 6’4”.

What bottom bracket is used on the Point and which cranks are compatible?

The Point uses a threaded 73mm shell that is compatible with just about every possible MTB crank in the market.

What dropouts come on the frame?

We supply the frame with standard 135mm vertical dropouts. Horizontal dropouts are available from Pivot if you want to run singlespeed. If you want to run a 12x142 thru axle you will need to order the dropouts from DMR (SwopOut system).

What size seatpost does the Point use?

The Point frame uses a 27.2mm seatpost.

What size seat clamp does the Point use?

The Point frame uses a 30.0mm seatpost clamp, which is provided with the frame.

Can I use a dropper post with this frame?

If you are determined, a 27.2mm dropper post will work on this frame.

Can I put a front derailleur on my Point?

No. The frame is not designed to accommodate a front derailleur and does not have cable stops.

Can I mount a chain guide on my Point?

Yes. The frame is equipped with ISCG-05 tabs, so most chain guides that are made for ISCG-05 tabs should work.

What headset do I need for the Point?

For the Pivot Point, we use an integrated style headset. The upper bearing measures 1-1/8" with 45°/45° ACB. The lower bearing measures 1-1/2" with 36°/45° ACB. The standard SHIS name is: TOP IS42 (45°), BOTTOM IS52/40.

How wide of a tire can I run on the Point?

The Point is designed to easily accept most 2.3 tires in the market. For wider tires, there are lots of options that will fit. However, we suggest you check the fit with your chosen rim and tire combination to make sure it has proper clearance. We have found that rim width, tire manufacture sizing call outs and/or tire size inconsistency can result in huge difference among both tire brands and individual tires.

How large of a rotor will fit on the Point?

The Point will clear either a 160mm or 180mm rotor.

What type of rear brake adapter do I need?

You will need an IS to post mount adaptor. They are offered in both 160mm and 180mm versions.

What travel fork can I use on my Point?

The Point was designed for either a 100mm or 120mm fork. The maximum travel length that can be used on the Point is 130mm travel.

What are the torque specs?
