PIVOT CARBON

The LES has dropped over 50 grams over the original design.

Using leading edge carbon fiber and our proprietary hollow core, internal–mandrel process, the engineers at Pivot have created a frame that offers racers a best-in-class hardtail ride tuned for the drive to the finish line over any terrain. Specific frame features include the oversized box section downtube and bottom bracket area, tapered head tube and meticulously engineered seat and chainstays. Combined, these features offer the best ride feel and significantly reduced athlete fatigue on even the longest courses.

For the best energy transfer possible, we’ve added Boost 110mm front and 148mm rear dropout spacing. Efficiency freaks will love the extra power you can lay down with ultra stiff Boost wheels, and the extra room between hub flanges gives 29” wheels a ride feel and durability that rivals any wheel size, without sacrificing the rollover capabilities of bigger wheels.

CABLE PORT SYSTEM

Pivot is the industry leader in electronic shifting integration. Universally acclaimed as the most advantageous component option for racers, the incredible gear-selection intelligence of Di2 componentry is perfectly integrated into the LES via the innovative Pivot Cable Port System.

Whether you choose to go the traditional shifting route or opt for Shimano’s game changing system, all of your cables, housing, wires and batteries are neatly tucked away for the ultimate in weather and impact resistance, no matter what set up you choose, now or in the future.

Brilliant in both 27.5+ and 29

World Cup racers seeking a hardtail option that excels on every kind of terrain love Pivot’s new-school racing geometry.

A slightly slack head angle (69.3 degrees when paired with a 100mm fork), low bottom bracket, tight wheelbase and the improved rollover of its larger-diameter wheels give the LES every advantage while climbing, and also make this hardtail far more capable while descending and cornering on technical trails.

LES DETAILS

THE RACER’S CHOICE

Pivot’s cross-country designs are the choice of top XC, short track and endurance racers around the world. Rose Grant, (Stan’s/Pivot Racing, 2x US National Marathon Champion), Mike Hall (2014, 2016 Tour Divide Winner and all-time record holder), Taylor Lideen (24-Hours in the Old Pueblo solo winner, NUE Series race winner) and Jason English (World Solo 24-Hour Champion) all choose Pivot’s LES. We are proud to support our athletes on the international stage, from Rio to the World Cup to Endurance events around the globe.

BRILLIANT IN BOTH WHEEL SIZES

The LES becomes a one-bike quiver with the race-light version of our patented Swinger II dropout system. This clever bit of Pivot Cycles engineering enables you to run both 29” and 27.5+ wheelsizes, and easily switch between singlespeed and geared drivetrains—all while maintaining ideal chainstay length and geometry.

LIGHT, FAST...AND READY TO PODIUM

We shaved more than 50 grams from the original LES frame—a frame that was already a true featherweight. Using leading-edge, carbon fiber and our proprietary hollow core, internal–mandrel process, our engineers created a frame that offers racers a best-in-class hardtail, tuned for the drive to the finish line.  The LES features an oversized, box-section downtube and bottom bracket area, stiffness enhancing Boost 110 and 148 front and rear spacing, as well as meticulously engineered seat and chainstays. Out on the course, those features add up to amazing power transfer and a surprisingly forgiving ride quality that staves off fatigue and saves you energy on even the longest courses.

WIDE RANGE OF FORK OPTIONS

The LES is compatible with 100 to 130mm forks, giving you a wide range of options when it comes to dialing in the bike to your own riding style. Choose a shorter travel fork and a 29” wheel for F1 speeds. When the course calls for fun, 120mm of travel combined with 27.5+ tires is a winning combination.

ELECTRIC OR CABLE—IT’S YOUR CHOICE

Whether you choose to go the traditional cable-shifting route or opt for Shimano’s game-changing electronic system, the LES has you covered. Thanks to our innovative Pivot Cable Port System, all of your cables, housing, wires and batteries are neatly tucked away inside the frame for the ultimate in weather and impact resistance, no matter what set up you choose, now or in the future.

FAQS

Which size bike should I purchase?

To ensure the best sizing, we recommend that you visit your local Pivot dealer to get a professional fit and refer to our geometry chart to check your measurements. However, we can provide a rough guideline:

Small: 5'5" – 5’9”

Medium: 5'9” – 5’11”

Large: 5’11”– 6’3”

X-Large: 6'3" +

Can I use a dropper post with this frame?

Yes, internally routed dropper posts are compatible with the LES.

What dropper post length should I use?

There are limitations that each dropper post have for each frame size based on the rider’s saddle height, so it is important to check fit before choosing the travel and model of dropper post for your LES. Use the Dropper Fit Guide under the Tech Specs section to help identify the right post length.

What is the hub/wheel spacing?

The LES uses Boost 148mm x 12mm hub/wheel spacing. This hub design has wider flanges, so you cannot change the end caps to convert an existing 135mm, 142mm, 150mm, or 157mm hub.

Can you set up the LES as a single speed?

Yes, the Swinger II dropout system makes it easy to switch between geared and single speed set ups. The LES comes spec’d with alloy hardware and is set at a fixed location. The Swinger II adjustable hardware kit includes everything you need to make the system fully adjustable for single speed use or to simply adjust the chainstay length for increased tire and mud clearance.

How wide of a tire and what size wheels can I run on the LES?

On 29” wheels we recommend tires up to 2.3” with (up to) 28mm maximum inner width rims.

For 27.5"+ wheels you can use tires up to 2.8” with (up to) 40mm maximum inner width rims.

Rim width and tire manufacture sizing call outs and tire inconsistency can result in huge difference among both tire brands and individual tires. We suggest you check the fit with your chosen rim and tire combination to make sure it has proper clearance before riding

What wheel sizes are compatible?

The LES is compatible with both 29” and 27.5”+ wheels.

What is the thread pitch on the rear axle?

Pivot uses a 1.5 thread pitch on the rear thru axle.

What cranks will the LES accept?

The LES will accept all cranks designed for the BOOST system and compatible with a Press Fit 92mm bottom bracket. BOOST system means that the rear hub spacing is 148mm and the chain-rings have been shifted out approximately 3mm from where a tradition crank designed for a 142mm rear hub would be so that the chainrings will line up properly with the new position of the cassette on the 148mm rear hub.

Can I use a non-Boost crankset?

You can use non-Boost:

Race Face Next SL 1x cranks

Shimano XT and XTR 1x11 cranks (with 30t or 32t)

Shimano XT and XTR 2x11 cranks (with 24t/34t or 26t/36t)

There may be other 2x non-Boost cranksets available that will work, thought it will depend on the chainline and chainring size. If the chainline is not out far enough, the front derailleur clearance may be tight when shifting in to the small ring – the front derailleur mount has been shifted outwards to accommodate the Boost design.

What is the size of the seatpost?

30.9mm

What is the size of the seat clamp?

34.9mm (or 35mm as some manufacturers call it)

What front derailleur is compatible with the LES frame?

An e-type side-swing style front derailleur - Shimano produces the e-type side-swing front derailleur in Deore & SLX for 10-speed drivetrains and XT & XTR for 11-speed drivetrains.

What crank and bottom bracket will work with my bike?

All cranks designed for the Boost system and use a Pressfit BB92 bottom bracket will work on your LES.

What is the narrowest Q-Factor crank I can run?

163mm

What is the maximum size chain ring I can run?

36t

What travel fork can I use on my LES and what forks are compatible with 27.5+ wheels?

The LES was designed for 100mm to 130mm fork travel. 130mm is the maximum travel length to be used on the LES. We use the new FOX 32 Step Cast 100mm fork in all our complete bike builds. This fork is a 29” race specific fork designed for 29” wheels with up to 2.3” tires and is NOT compatible with 27.5+ tires. If you are planning on using 27.5+ tires on your LES, we offer a FOX 34 X 120mm fork option that will allow clearance for 27.5+ tires up to 3” as will as 29” wheels with clearance for up to 2.4” tires.

What is the fork offset on the LES?

The Fox 32 100mm Stepcast we spec on all the standard builds has a 44mm offset.

The Fox 34 120mm fork we spec on the 27.5”+ builds have a 51mm offset.

What headset do I need?

Zero stack (ZS) 44mm top and ZS 56mm bottom (or a Chris King Inset 2)

What is the largest rotor I can fit?

180mm

Do I need a rear brake adapter?

No rear brake adapter is needed for a 160mm rotor. If you would like to put a 180mm rotor on, you will need a direct mount post-to-post adapter.

What are the torque specs?

A detailed PDF of the torque specs can be found in the Tech Specs section.
