Motors, and batteries alone are difficult to integrate into a seamless, incredible performing design and managing power through the suspension, and chassis is another art all in and of itself.

What Pivot Ride Tuning Means 

Ride tuning is how a bike behaves under real-world conditions. Hard braking. High-speed cornering. Square-edge impacts. Technical climbs. It is the combined result of frame flex, suspension kinematics, material choices and component integration working together.

For Pivot, a great e-bike ride feel is defined by four core characteristics.

Predictable

The bike responds consistently to rider input. Steering and suspension behavior remain intuitive across varying speeds and terrain, allowing riders to commit with confidence.

The chassis stays calm under load. Impacts are absorbed without unwanted deflection, helping the bike track cleanly when trails get fast or rough.

Balancing Ride Tuning and Power 

Power delivery on an e-bike does not exist in isolation. It interacts with the frame, suspension, and rider at all times. 

If an e-bike is overly stiff or compromised by packaging constraints, additional power can amplify harshness rather than performance. That is why we focus on how power is delivered through the chassis instead of simply how much is available. 

Pivot e-bikes are tuned to maintain the optimal stiffness under motor load, preserve suspension sensitivity and support and feel balanced across climbing, descending and flat terrain. The result is an e-mountain bike that feels natural and controlled. Floating Battery Technology and Ride Tuning 

Battery integration plays a major role in e-bike ride quality, yet it is often overlooked. Carbon frames are engineered to flex in controlled ways under load. When a battery is rigidly fixed to the frame, it can resist that movement. This can reduce compliance, increase harshness and introduce unwanted stress into the frame. 

Pivot takes a different approach. 

Instead of rigidly fixing the battery to the frame, we use two independent nylon-composite mounts that allow the battery to subtly rotate as the carbon frame flexes under load. This floating interface lets the frame move naturally through bumps, cornering and high-load situations while keeping the battery secure and protected. 

Why a Floating Battery Matters on the Trail 

Floating battery technology is an intentional part of our e-bike ride tuning strategy. By allowing controlled movement between the battery and frame, we preserve the engineered flex characteristics of the chassis. This helps maintain compliance and traction, reduces stress concentrations and delivers a smoother, more predictable ride feel. 

Rather than deadening the ride, the battery becomes integrated into the system in a way that supports how the bike is meant to perform. The result is an e-bike that feels composed and connected, even when the trail or speed pushes limits. 

Traveling With Your Pivot E-Bike? 

Pivot’s battery mounts are proprietary and are designed to interface directly with the battery. 

If you are traveling with your e-bike, you may be transporting or shipping it without the battery, as most airlines do not allow e-bike batteries to be flown. In this case, you will want to ensure you have the nylon-composite battery mounts. The frame is designed to function with these mounts in place and should not be ridden without them. 

When traveling, be sure to pack the battery mounts along with the bike to ensure proper fit, function and ride quality once the battery is reinstalled.
