Bike(s): Mach 429SL Carbon
Growing up racing mountain bikes (XC) and swimming, it’s not surprise that Michael gravitated to the sport of off-road triathlon. After racing road bicycles during college and a few years post graduating, he discovered Xterra Triathlons (thanks to the legendary Ned Overend). In 2015 he was top 10 amateur in all domestic regional championships with a handful of podiums along the way. Always looking to challenge himself, he has made the jump to Elite.
Since Xterra is essentially an XC race sandwiched between a swim and trail run, a fast, light, efficient mountain bike is critical. The Mach 429SL has been a game changer for him. Coming from years of racing on a hardtail, he loves the efficient pedaling of this bike, it’s super stiff chassis and the bottomless feel of the travel. This will be his second year as a Pivot athlete. He will supplement his triathlon racing with Utah’s Intermounatin Cup XC series.
