The New Zealand adventure is off to a great start. After arriving in Auckland (northern part of the North Island) early in the morning on Wednesday the 22nd (it was still the 21st in the US – time zones are crazy) Syd and I spent the rest of the day buying a red Toyota Corolla wagon (we named it Medium Red), figuring out our NZ mobile phone and making friends with one of the local bike shops. The next day we headed South and spent the last week making our way from Auckland to Wellington (southern part of the North Island) checking out the riding along the way. This morning we took the ferry to the South Island and our plan from here is to head down to Queenstown (southern part of the South Island) to explore what is said to be some of the best riding in New Zealand. After a few weeks in Queenstown we will retrace our steps and then spend the rest of our time (approximately 3 weeks) riding in Rotorua, recently named Best Mountain Biking in the World by some magazine (can’t remember which one).
If there are any distributors or connections you’d like us to meet up with here in New Zealand, please let us know and we’ll do our best to make it happen.
As always, feel free to use the attached photos in any way you like (social media, print or otherwise) and let me know if you need higher resolution versions of any of them.
Thanks for all the support! Macky
