Introducing the 2015 Pivot Mach 4 Carbon
With so many great bikes on the market, striving to remain competitive is as fierce in the design room as it is on the race track. Towards that end, Pivot went back to the drawing board and have emerged with a model that introduces the next generation of race/trail geometry packed into its lightest (2.3 kg / 5.1 lbs) full suspension frame they had yet to produce! As Pivot designer Chris Cocalis put it, the “Mach 4 is really the bike that started it all for Pivot” so revamping the model in its 4th generation was a huge gamble.
They started with the notion, a core requirement rather, that it needed to perform well on and off the XC course in a wide variety of terrain. Working from the ground up, they designed it around 27.5 wheels and played with a variety of travel ranges until they found a sweet spot at 115mm. With these pillars in place, the bet pays off and the bike maintains its known pedaling efficiency while taking its trail performance to the next level. But this was only the beginning.
