Pivot’s ultimate enduro/aggressive trail bike gets long and low.

Pivot’s renowned Mach 6 Carbon is longer, lower and sets a new benchmark for enduro / aggressive trail bikes. The new design benefits directly from Pivot’s extensive gravity design experience – the perfect combination of progressive geometry and uncompromising pedaling capability – making it the right choice for dropping into black-diamond terrain and hitting technical features at race pace. From peak to podium, the Mach 6 Carbon is enduro performance, redefined.

New Enduro / Aggressive Trail Geometry

With its new, slacker, 65.75 degree head angle, steep 74 degree seat angle, and Pivot’s long travel, downhill-influenced linkage, the 155mm travel Mach 6 Carbon is specifically designed for enduro racers who are pushing their limits or for riders looking for every advantage in technical terrain. Descending, riders are “in” the cockpit rather than above, experiencing stability and control at high speeds, incredible rollover capability on technical trail features, and light, flickable, handling that attests to the influence of riders like Rupert Chapman and the ever stylish Bernard Kerr.

You have to get up to get down, and the new steeper seat angles combined with the roomier cockpit on the Mach 6 Carbon keep the front wheel on the ground and the traction engaged, enabling riders to motor over the toughest climbing obstacles with surprising ease, making transfers easy and giving Pivot athletes a huge advantage over tricky uphill features.

Smaller riders also benefit from customized geometry in every frame size. While sizes Medium, Large and X-Large see significant increases in reach measurements, sizes Small and X-Small are more compact, in keeping with our rider-size-specific design philosophy, while still offering the climbing advantages of the steeper seat angle, and a nimble, capable handling on descents.

Carbon Frame and Linkage Design

With our exclusive hollow core internal molding process and the right combination of carbon materials and design features, we’ve created the Mach 6 Carbon to be an incredibly durable and light chassis, with levels of stiffness and strength that are comparable to our downhill designs. Large tube cross sections, double wishbone rear triangle, ultra-stiff clevis and linkage, and large, suspension specific, EnduroMax bearings all contribute to class leading power transfer and the point and shoot ride quality essential in a top flight enduro race bike.

DW-Link® And Fox Suspension

The Mach 6 Carbon features acclaimed dw-link® suspension, dialed for long travel applications. The dw-link®’s famed anti-squat delivers non-stop traction, while the variable wheel travel path provides unmatched square-edge bump absorption and control on technical descents. The responsiveness and bottomless feel of the Mach 6 is matched only by the exceptionally efficient climbing capability for faster, easier transfers – getting you to the next descent before everyone else.

The Mach 6 Carbon is spec’d with the New FOX Factory Kashima Float DPX2 shock with the EVOL air sleeve, tuned specifically for enduro and trail applications. The new Float DPX2 features X2 oil flow architecture in a lighter weight, better pedaling package for optimized performance in enduro / aggressive trail applications as well as offering an incredibly wide range of individual tunability. The EVOL air sleeve on the Mach 6’s DPX2 significantly reduces the force required to initiate travel, for the ultimate in small bump compliance and better bottom-out resistance. When combined with the ultra-low friction Kashima coating, this design offers an incredibly plush feel with a wide range of damping adjustments. The Float DPX2 also offers three on-the-fly lever adjustments using the new Open, Medium and Firm options with an additional adjustment for tuning low speed compression on the open setting, to suit a wide range of rider weights and preferences. While dw-link® is inherently efficient in every setting, the firm option is great for long fire road climbs or between stage transfers. These shock features are direct complements to dw-link® suspension tuning and patented position-sensitive anti-squat, giving riders even better traction on steep climbs and over rough trail.

To match Mach 6 Carbon’s rear suspension, we’ve paired it with the newest 160mm FOX 36 fork now featuring an EVOL air spring and updated upper tubes for unparalleled small bump sensitivity – It’s the perfect fork to match any trail rider’s need for high-performance, balanced handling on every part of the trail.

ALL THE RIGHT DETAILS

The Mach 6 Carbon is available in five sizes to fit riders from 4’11” to 6’3”+ from Extra Small (XS) to Extra Large (XL) options.

Getting the gearing setup that works best for you is easy with the Mach 6 Carbon. It is both 1x and 2x compatible, and offers full Di2 electronic integration and easy, clean internal routing of shifters, brakes and droppers via the Pivot Cable Port system.

Other essential details include rubberized leather downtube and swingarm frame protection, 180mm rear post mount disc brake, and Enduro Max cartridge bearings throughout.

WOMEN & PIVOT:

At Pivot, we believe the bike should fit the rider, not the other way around. Our approach to rider-size-specific geometry relies on a balanced fit and adjusted geometry to maintain correct wheelbase length and handling to properly accommodate the proportions of every size ride, including smaller athletes. Our S and XS sizes are built with shorter head tubes to create more stand-over height, enabling you to ride in a centered, athletic position with tons of clearance over the top tube – essential to attacking descents and cornering with confidence and speed.

We create the same handling experience across the range by engineering specifically each frame size. Size-specific carbon molds enable us to use smaller diameters and unique carbon layups for lighter frames in the small sizes while maintaining the same high strength in a more compact design. Additionally, for riders on our extra small bikes, Pivot’s Float DPX2 tune offers an incredibly wide range of shock tuning which enables us to set up the Mach 6 Carbon for a diverse range of rider weights and abilities.

Pivot complete bikes are also designed to intelligently address real-world rider differences, with the option to choose women’s specific saddle on any size and shorter cranks on our S and XS sizes.

PERFECT BUILDS FROM PIVOT

Pivot complete bikes are more than the sum of their parts – every single component is selected to give you the best experience on the trail:

Tires: For each of our bikes, we include the best version of every Maxxis tire model for each application – choosing rubber compounds, tubeless and sidewall technologies that are perfect for your specific Pivot.

Cockpit: Custom designed Phoenix Components work as a system to enhance cockpit comfort and control on every Pivot bike. To learn more about how these components enhance the quality of your ride, see here.

Wheels: Pivot bikes include the best wheel technologies available. Reynolds Carbon wheels feature industry leading composite materials and proprietary resins that give Reynolds rims the perfect balance of stiffness and ride-feel. Combined with the nearly instantaneous engagement and jewelry-like finish of the Industry Nine hubs and Reynolds’ new lifetime warranty, the Reynolds Enduro wheels are the ultimate wheel upgrade for your new Mach 6 Carbon.

Saddle: Pivot bikes feature WTB saddles that are specially made with the best, most durable, memory foam and feature a special hidden cutout for long ride comfort.

We take quality and workmanship seriously at Pivot, and know that the details are what make a great rider experience. Every Pivot Cycles frame undergoes an extensive assembly and quality control process to ensure that every ride on the Mach 6 Carbon exceeds your expectations.

Product Reviews

Frequently Asked Questions

Which size bike should I purchase?

We suggest that you pick your Mach 6 size based on your riding style. The Medium, Large and X-Large Mach 6 features enduro/trail bike long and low geometry with both shorter seat tube and head tube measurements per size – this geometry means that most riders can go up or down a size and should base their choice on riding-style, reach and stem length preferences. For shorter riders already running short stems, the Mach 6 X-Small and Small sizes feature rider size appropriate reach and geometry to make sure that your Mach 6 handles perfectly for you. Be sure to also consult our dropper post fit guide when making your selection. You can always reach out to us on Live Chat for additional guidance.
Mach 6 Carbon and Aluminum Sizing Recommendations:
X-Small: 4'11" – 5’4”
Small: 5'3" – 5’6”
Medium: 5'6” – 5’11”
Large: 5'10” – 6'3”
X-Large: 6'2” +

What dropper post length should I use on my Mach 6 Carbon?

The Mach 6 Carbon features a low stand-over height and short seat tubes to allow the use of longer travel dropper posts and/or more flexibility for a wider range of rider sizes.

There are some limitations that each dropper post can accommodate for each frame size based on the individual rider’s saddle height, so it is important to check fit before choosing the travel and model of dropper post for your Mach 6 Carbon. Use this guide to find the right post for your bike:

http://www.pivotcycles.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Mach-6C-V3-Dropper-Fit-Guide.pdf

How do I set the sag on my Mach 6 Carbon?

We make it easy to get the best ride out of your Pivot bike with a simple sag indicator already installed on your bike. Please consult our suspension set up guide and/or this follow-along video featuring our own Bernard Kerr:

https://vimeo.com/pivotcycles/sag

How do I enduro with the Mach 6 Carbon?

#1 Purchase a blue Mach 6 Carbon. The stealth grey will work, but ideally your bike will match your Enduro kit. If your bike and kit do not match, you suck or at least everyone will think you suck.

#2 Document everything. Every ride, session, and race must be thoroughly recorded. Appropriate methods of documentation include Go Pros, Strava, and having your photographer/ videographer friend follow you around and make sick edits.

#3 Enduro-specific helmets and goggles are required at all times when descending. Be sure to bring your spare XC lid for climbing. As a special tip, FLY makes a sick full face that perfectly matches the new blue Mach 6 carbon. It’s even designed for goggles and will make your look as fast as Bernard even if you aren’t: http://www.flyracing.com/product/mtb/riderwear/helmets/werx-ultra-helmet/4926/blueredblack

#4 You must wear a minimum of three articles of Troy Lee Designs or FLY clothing at all times. If not, have fun on your cross country ride. Don’t mix your gear either. Running a FLY jersey, Troy Lee shorts and Race Face knee pads is just wrong (although we do it all the time – just not without criticism)

#5 Wear a fanny pack (Sorry…now it’s called a waist pack). These are cool again (in case you didn’t know).

#6 Be sure to get pro name decals with your state/ country flag so that you can easily identify your bike. (We do this so that our personal bikes don’t get loaned out at demo events. At least that’s how we rationalize it).

#7 Equip your bike with Enduro-specific components, including but not limited to stems, wheels, and grips. (Fortunately, these are all included in our awesome Pivot complete builds.)

Can I run a water bottle on the Mach 6 Carbon?

Yes, the Mach 6 Carbon features two sets of water bottle cage mounts on the medium to x-large frame -
one on the top of the down tube and the other is underneath the down tube.
On the small and x-small frame, there is one bottle cage mount underneath the down tube.

What hub/wheel spacing does the Mach 6 Carbon use?

The Mach 6 Carbon uses the Boost 148mm X 12mm hub/wheel spacing. This is a hub design with wider flanges so you cannot take a current 135mm, 142mm, 150mm, or 157mm hub and change end caps to convert an existing hub.

What is the thread pitch on the rear axle?

Pivot uses a 1.5 thread pitch on the rear thru axle. You can order one through our online store. This is also the same thread pitch and axle length as the Shimano Boost 148mm X 12mm through axle so most Shimano compatible axle should work as well if you somehow manage to lose your Pivot or DT Swiss rear axle and need something compatible to keep you going.

http://www.pivotcycles.com/store/

What size seatpost does the Mach 6 Carbon use?

The Mach 6 Carbon frame uses a 30.9mm seatpost.

What size seat clamp does the Mach 6 Carbon use?

The Mach 6 Carbon frame uses a 34.9mm or 35mm (as some manufacturers call it) seatpost clamp.

Can I mount a chain guide on my Mach 6 Carbon?

Yes. The Mach 6 Carbon features ISCG05 mounts on the frame. Most upper guides on the market will fit and you can either use the ISCG05 mounts or some of the more compact versions that attach to an E-Type front derailleur mount. For full upper and lower guides, we recommend the MRP AMG for the Mach 6 Carbon.

What front derailleur does the Mach 6 Carbon use?

The Mach 6 Carbon uses an e-type Shimano side-swing style front derailleur only. Shimano produces the e-type side-swing front derailleur in Deore and SLX for 10 speed drivetrains and XT and XTR for 11 speed drivetrains.

What travel fork can I use on my Mach 6 Carbon?

The Mach 6 Carbon was designed for a 160mm fork. The maximum travel length that can be used on the Mach 6 Carbon is 170mm travel.

What is the fork offset on the Mach 6 Carbon?

The fork offset on the Mach 6 Carbon is 44mm.

How wide of a tire can I run on the Mach 6 Carbon?

The Mach 6 Carbon can run 27.5” tires up to 2.6” inches.

What headset do I need for the Mach 6 Carbon?

The Mach 6 Carbon uses a ZS (zero stack) 44mm top and (zero stack) 56mm bottom, or a Chris King Inset 2.

How large of a rotor will fit on the Mach 6 Carbon?

The Mach 6 Carbon was designed for a 180mm rotor and features a 180mm post mount design so you cannot fit a 160mm rotor on the Mach 6 Carbon frame.

What type of rear brake adapter do I need?

No brake adapter is needed for a 180mm rotor. However, many manufacturers make adapters for larger rotor sizes, in which case you would need the proper direct mount/post to post adapter to go from a 180mm to 203mm rotor.

What cranks will the Mach 6 Carbon accept?

The Mach 6 Carbon will accept all cranks designed for the BOOST system and compatible with a press fit 92mm bottom bracket. BOOST system means that the rear hub spacing is 148mm and the chain-rings have been shifted out approximately 3mm from where a tradition crank designed for a 142mm rear hub would be so that the chainrings will line up properly with the new position of the cassette on the 148mm rear hub.

Can I run non-Boost™ cranks on my Mach 6 Carbon?

In some cases you can run a conventional non-BOOST 1X or 2X crank. The Race Face NEXT 1X and other Cinch system 1X cranks are dual compatible between standard 142mm and 148mm Boost rear ends. Some smaller chainring combination 1X (30 and 32T) Shimano XT and XTR 11 will also work. In some cases 2X standard cranks may also work with 24/34, 26/36 and 22/36 combinations. Shimano’s new 11 Speed XTR and XT standard cranks feature both 24/34 and 26/36 chainring options which work perfectly with the Mach 6 Carbon frame as Shimano’s chainline dimensions already tend to run wider than others in the market. There may be other 2X non- boost cranks available that will work although it is dependent on specific chainline and chainring size. If the chainline is not out far enough, the front derailleur clearance may be tight when shifting into the small ring as the front derailleur mount on the Mach 6 Carbon is also shifted outwards to accommodate the BOOST design.

Additionally, you cannot run cranks designed specifically with a narrower Q Factor such as XTR Race 158mm Q factor crank and the SRAM XX1 156Q crank (In fact, for any SRAM 1X cranks, you need to run their specific BOOST version of the crank).

What is the narrowest Q factor crank that the Mach 6 Carbon will accept?

The Mach 6 Carbon will accept cranks with a standard Q factor measurement as low as 163mm. You cannot run cranks designed specifically with a narrower Q Factor such as XTR Race 158mm Q factor crank and the SRAM XX1 156Q crank

What bottom bracket is used on the Mach 6 Carbon?

The Mach 6 Carbon uses a Press Fit 92mm BB. Some bottom bracket manufacturers may refer to it as BB92 or PF92 as well. Every crank manufacture offers Press Fit 92mm BB options.

What is the eye-to-eye shock length and stroke length on the Mach 6 Carbon?

The eye-to-eye shock length is 8.5 inches and the stroke length is 2.5 inches.

If I want to run a different brand of shock on my Mach 6 Carbon, what else do I need to know?

The Mach 6 Carbon shock uses M8 through bolt hardware on the front and no hardware on the rear. Shock spacer dimensions are 22mm wide front. On the rear of the shock, the spacer hardware and bushing will need to be removed as the strut mounts directly to the shock body. Some shocks may have a different spec then the Fox shock (that the Mach 6 Carbon is designed for) and may not fit properly. Also, as we cannot test every shock on the market, riders assume some risk if they choose a shock that does not fit properly or is not tuned correctly for the bike. The frame is designed around a large volume air can. We run medium compression valving and medium rebound damping.

Can I run a Cane Creek Double Barrel shock on my Mach 6 Carbon?

Yes, as long as you order the correct eyelet size (15mm eyelet). Additionally, the fit of the Cane Creek shocks into our strut is not as precise as that on the Fox shocks so extra care needs to be taken to make sure that the shock is not able to rotate or move in the strut as any sideways movement during riding can damage the frame.

Can I put a coil-over shock on my Mach 6 Carbon?

In general, you cannot run a coil-over on your Mach 6 Carbon! The Mach 6 Carbon was designed to work with the progressiveness of an air spring. A coil-over shock (even one with separate bottoming control) does not offer the progressive spring curve that the Mach 6 Carbon requires. Running a coil-over shock on the Mach 6 Carbon will result in hard bottoming and damage to the frame. That said, we have done extensive testing with the PUSH industries ElevenSIX shock and have arrived at settings that are approved for the Mach 6 Carbon. If you choose to run this shock, it is the user’s responsibility to follow the tune guidelines that PUSH provides. Any frame damage occurring due to issues related to any shock that is not what is supplied with the bike or offered as an upgrade for the Mach 6 through Pivot Cycles will not be covered under warranty.
